Russian, Afghan Sambo Wrestlers Compete In Friendly Fight
Afghan Sambo wrestlers visit Moscow for a friendly contest with Russian martial artists. Sport has, once again, proved one way of uniting nations as Russia's Sambo wrestlers greeted their opposite numbers from Afghanistan in a move of mutual goodwill in Moscow. Participant (speaking Pushtu): “Sambo is the same back in Afghanistan as it is here in Russia but unfortunately I don’t have such good conditions at home. If we had similar equipment, we would produce good results." Nikolay Khaustov, Russian Foreign Ministry official (speaking Russian): “This was not about sport about more the cultural exchange. Our Afghan guests are not only the wrestlers, they also visited the Kremlin and central Moscow. So we hope they will have happy memories of this trip for the rest of their lives."
